 LAW FIRMS (SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE, ATTENDING SEMINARS)

 CUSTOMERS (HANDLING ESCALATED CUSTOMER CLAIMS)

 VENDORS (ASSISTING IN NEGOTIATING OF CONTRACTS)

3- DIRECT REPORT LINE : HEAD OF LEGAL EUROPE

4- TEAM ORGANISATION : HEAD OF LEGAL EUROPE

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 To work closely with Head of Legal Europe and Legal Department in France (and any newly-established Legal Department in the EU) on European legal and compliance matters

 To work closely with the Legal & Compliance Department in Japan and other regions on global legal and compliance matters

 To work closely with the Information Security team in the UK and France (and any newly established Information Security team in the EU) on information security matters

 To support from a legal and compliance position the rapid expansion of the Uniqlo business within the UK and continental Europe

 To proactively engage in the business and strengthen the legal and compliance mindset of employees

 To proactively interact with global Legal & Compliance department members and implement best practices

RESPONSIBILITIES CONTRACT DRAFTING/REVIEW, NEGOTIATION

Generate initial drafts of contracts and other legal documentation

 Review and edit third party drafts of contracts

 Standardise, update and maintain contract templates

 Support business teams by negotiating contracts directly with vendors as necessary

 Offer practical yet robust solutions in time-sensitive situations

 Obtain signatures/seals on legal documentation

 Organise and file documents and perform related administrative tasks

LEGAL RISK MANAGEMENT

Provide practical, low risk solutions to legal consultations from business

 Proactively identify legal risks within business, propose and implement solutions

 Proactively engage with store operations and SSC departments to facilitate understanding of issues

LITIGATION, LEGAL DISPUTES MANAGEMENT

Handle various litigation and disputes arising within business, including customer claims (manage deadlines, devise strategy, coordinate with internal teams and external law firms)

 Implement low-cost and suitable solutions for obtaining external legal support, including selecting and coordinating with law firms

NEW MARKET EXPANSION SUPPORT

Identify and select law firms to assist in cost-efficient manner and within budget constraints

 Establish appropriate corporate structure (branch, etc.)

 Research new country/region’s laws and regulations in related matters and coordinate with relevant departments to achieve compliance

LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

Research labour and employment laws and adopt competitive employment agreements in new markets in coordination with Human Resources

 Research trade union and works council laws and regulations in new markets and devise appropriate strategy together with Human Resources and external law firms

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Handle all aspects of corporate governance, including registering changes in directors with governing authorities, establishing branch in new market, and drafting and finalising board minutes of meeting

COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT

Undertake key role within General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) working team to design, implement, and maintain GDPR-compliant data privacy practices

 Identify non-compliance of various matters and coordinate with relevant departments to rectify
