Sourcing Associate


Project Base Contract: up to £80K p.a.


About the role

Our client is looking for their first sourcing associate in the UK to work on their acquisition project, sourcing and negotiating M&A deals. The right candidate will be both commercially and entrepreneurially minded, as well as possess excellent analytical skills of the UK competitive market. The role includes finding acquisition targets, performing valuations, assessing strategic fit and negotiating deals while working closely with the M&A team based in Japan HQ. 


What you'll be doing

·       The sourcing Associate is part of the investment team and is working alongside another UK based Associate and the M&A team in Japan HQ

·       Cultivate prospect pipeline in the IT industry

·       Build relationships with CEOs and founders through initial outreach, calls and meetings

·       Attend conferences to meet prospects, build relationships

·       Preparation and evaluation of complex financial models and preparation of investment cases

·       Run internal NDA process

·       First Line of Defense evaluating new opportunities

·       Support investment team in preliminary DD process

·       Determining strategic fit for the Company

·       Preliminary analysis (if candidate has analytical background)


Who we are looking for

·       Strong IT sector advisory and M&A transactional experience within a consultancy or corporate development environment

·       Must have outgoing personality and social skills to connect with new prospects

·       Ability to network into opportunities proactively

·       Experience of influencing a broad range of decision makers and stakeholders

·       Strong valuation/modelling capabilities

·       Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills

·       Enthusiasm for taking on new responsibilities, even if outside areas of expertise

·       Able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, collaboratively, and autonomously

·       Analytical and thoughtful perspective on the IT industry and deep interest in technology investing



·       Excellent academic history in business/economics

·       Undergraduate degree and/or MBA

·       3-5 years investment banking analyst experience is required

·       Excellent analytical and technical skills, strong command of accounting and M&A concepts and ability to create complex financial models in Excel

·       Strong command of M&A valuation and financial analyses

·       Excellent English skills (written and oral) are a must
