Job Title:Finance Assistant Reports To:Financial Controller

Contract:Fixed term up to end March 2024

Location: London with remote working by agreement

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week

Salary: £28,000 pa

Purpose Of The Role

The Finance Assistant will assist with the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in our small finance team. The role will extend to all areas of accountspayable from authorisation through to payment, and you will therefore have an integral role to play in the reporting of the Profit and Loss statement. The Finance Assistant will also be required to support the Financial Accountant and the Finance Analyst with the preparation of financial reports for management. This position will cover a range of financial tasks which are integral to both a commercial retail and a not-for-profit company.

Key Responsibilities

・Process all invoices in a timely manner with great attention to detail

・Ensure proper escalation, prioritisation, and remediation of issues so no backlogs occur

・Ensuring all invoices are approved in accordance with our internal processes

・Preparation and review of payment runs as required

・Assist with stock reconciliations and sales analysis

・Reconcile supplier accounts and review all supplier statements

・Liaise with suppliers and project managers to resolve issues

・Working as part of a team to assist with the raising of sales invoices

・Assist with the month-end close including processing of accounting journals andreconciliations (inc. bank) as required

・Assistance with ad hoc finance projects as they arise

・Deal with ad hoc queries as necessary

・All members of staff are expected to collaborate, from time to time, in cross functional teams to deliver specific projects and programmes of activity. The project teams are multi-disciplinary and bring together the skills and experience needed to deliver a wide range of shared initiatives and objectives. Teams may include experts from external companies or suppliers.

Professional Qualifications Knowledge & Experience


・At least two years’ experience in a finance or accounts-based role


・Educated to degree level or equivalent in finance-related field from an accredited college or university is preferred but not essential


・Excellent written and spoken English, proficient to high business language standard

・Japanese language skills are advantageous

・Excellent excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

・Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

・Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

・Excellent time management skills, including ability to prioritise and work to strictdeadlines

・Proactive, self-starter attitude; helping to improve processes and reduce likelihood oferrors

・Experience using Xero accounting software would be an advantage

Work Environment

・Due to ongoing Covid-19 precautions, this role will begin as a remote-first position, with a gradual return to an office environment.

・Our aim is for a flexible approach to work locations, balancing on site presence and working from home. The mix of office-based working and remote working will be determined by business need and role requirements.

・Some duties will be carried out in the company London public spaces

・Standard eight hours per day, five days per week. Core working hours are 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
