PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of integrated paid advertising
campaigns, which dovetail with owned and earned media to drive engagement with organization's programme.
The postholder is responsible for setting goals and developing campaigns and strategies to meet those
goals, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the right message is communicated to right audience
in the right place at the right time – thereby ensuring maximum return on marketing spend.
The Marketing Manager has first-rate strategic marketing planning and project management skills. With strong
experience of reaching and engaging diverse audiences, you will also bring a wealth of essential skills to the role with
particular expertise in advertising, email marketing and marketing automation. Excellent interpersonal skills and a
proactive approach to creative problem solving are essential, as are fresh thinking and a strong understanding of
methods of audience engagement.

KEY DUTIES
Design paid marketing campaigns (predominantly B2C) based around agreed objectives, target audiences and
budgets, factoring in internal resources as well as commissioned services.

Developing briefs for the media buying agency and digital agency so they can plan and execute the paid
advertising element of marketing campaigns.

Regularly monitor campaign results and work with suppliers to make changes, such as to channels and artwork,
as necessary to achieve targets.

Manage organization’s relationship with design agencies, supplying them with clear briefs and deadlines for artwork.
Work closely with the rest of the Marketing & Communications team to ensure an integrated approach to all
campaigns, considering how owned media such as organic social and earned media from PR activities dovetail
with paid activity for optimum performance.

Act as a guardian of the organization's brand, briefing the team and partners on the use of brand assets
and tone of voice, and monitoring their internal and external use.

Work with the Head of Audiences and Digital content on developing use of marketing automation and
personalization, utilizing the functionality of the CRM system and other systems and suppliers as necessary.

Manage email marketing: maintaining and growing mailing lists, producing engaging monthly newsletters
and e-shots, and creating and managing invitations for VIP events. Keep up to date with best practice in email
marketing and implement changes as necessary.

Manage the production of all printed marketing materials for the organization, including items related to public
programmes, membership and venue hire.

Commission and manage other external suppliers, including but not limited to photographers, videographers,
interpreters and translators.

Manage the paid advertising budget, monitoring spend throughout the year and ensuring value for money on
all marketing spend through supplier comparisons and performance evaluation.

Ensure that the organization continues to remain compliant with all relevant legislation around marketing.
Monitor and report on campaign results to senior management, gathering data from partners and commenting
on campaign success and learnings.

Contributing to the growth of organization's relationships database and representing at events, where applicable.
Other reasonable duties as allocated by the Directors.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education & Qualifications

Educated to degree level, preferably in a related subject
CIM or equivalent qualification in marketing

Knowledge & Skills
An understanding of Japan and / or Japanese language is highly advantageous
CRM database management
Marketing automation platforms (email marketing, audience segmentation, customer journey creation etc.)
Digital marketing skills, including a good understanding of social media platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for different media (email, adverts
etc.)

Strong organizational and time management skills including proficiency in the use of Asana or other task
management platforms

Core IT skills - proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes and the ability to quickly pick up other business
systems used for finance / HR etc.

CMS/HTML skills
Ability to learn quickly and be flexible and adaptable to change.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Ability to prioritise and work under pressure, managing one’s own workload.
Ability to generate new ideas.
Self-motivated, resourceful, and adept at problem solving.
Intuitive; can identify priorities, ask the right questions and anticipate problems before they arise.

Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a similar role within a relevant industry or creative agency
