Title: Head of Japan, 15-month Maternity Cover

Location: London or Tokyo

Salary: 45-55K

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

   The Head of Japan, will be responsible for their top Japanese broadcast and sound house clients; managing senior level relationships as well as strategising the Companies sales and marketing plans. They will also have a high standard of team management skills.

 

   They will create the Japan Television strategy in collaboration with the Commercial Director, UK/Nordics/Japan, by being data informed, driven by industry knowledge and creative awareness to drive continued commercial growth.  Working from our Tokyo office or remotely from London office, the Head of Japan, will lead on delivering the defined sales metrics of acquiring new accounts, adding new users to existing accounts, driving users to the website and improving their download volumes to lead to overall revenue growth. With a strong focus on culture, the candidate will lead by example, championing change, customer focused innovation and feedback.

 

THE ROLE

  • Develop and maintain their commercial strategy for the Japanese Television and Broadcast sector long term, aimed at maximising sync revenue and driving high value usage of their music
  • Take ownership of all senior Television and Broadcaster relationships within the territory
  • Manage and motivate a team of two direct reports
  • Prioritise accounts monthly using data, trade news, client insight, events etc 
  • Manage personal time and create a solid pipeline of new and existing clients to target, identifying areas for growth and leading high-tier deal negotiations
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings, events and functions, to aid business development
  • Track, report and action strategy based upon customer requirements and sales metrics on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Develop innovate ways to engage with clients and help promote best practice
  • Collaborate with European, US and Australian sales teams to help grow the global business
  • Stratetise marketing activities effectively and propose new ideas to support sales 

 

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Will be an inspiring, engaging people leader with naturally high EQ, able to set a vision and bring people with them  
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Sales and account management, people management and marketing management (preferably in the media, music or advertising sector)
  • Must be a native or fluent Japanese language speaker with a business level of English skills  
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and respond to changing demands  
  • Established relationships within the Japanese television production and broadcast sector  
  • Will be excited by and passionate about and their mission and purpose and will instinctively understand the type of culture it takes to succeed within this business
  • Will be an experienced and detail-oriented commercial operator with a strong customer-service focus, who can drive strategy, process, structure, and budgeting, and deliver seamlessly against core operating KPIs  
  • Will be able to think ‘big picture’ and apply a strategic lens to decision-making, but also be comfortable taking a hands-on, impact-oriented approach
  • Will be passionate, tenacious and ambitious, as well as high-integrity, rigorous, low-ego, collaborative and personable  
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred but not essential  
  • Identify and lead initiatives to increase usage of our music and support in strengthening client relationships
  • Forward and creative thinking to generate marketing opportunities is a must  
  • Establish positioning, define target audiences and construct marketing plans with specific objectives across the different channels and segments to drive our brand
  • Knowledge in music copyrights in Japan is advantageous
