SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE
The candidate will deliver the category product strategy that maximizes the consumer need, brand and commercial objectives for Company Direct to Consumer (DTC) by developing and implementing assortments.  The candidate will deliver the financial strategy ensuring the correct weighting is balanced across the range to deliver the commercial & strategic objectives for each store concept.
They will also deliver the agreed financial plans and margins for the stores through effective range planning, clear seasonal transition strategies, forecasting and in-season performance management.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning
  • Build the financial plan to deliver the range, campaign strategy and commercial goals. Set and agree targets for sales, intake and gross margin, stock, markdown for all the key planning levels (category, product type, risk profile, attributes).
  • Ensure OTB and Inventory plans for category / channel are aligned with company strategy and are signed off by the Senior Commercial Manager.   
  • Own and manage a rolling forecast to ensure clarity on performance within all the product KPI’s and make pro-active recommendations for future trading activities to influence the performance of the current financial year.
Assortment Planning
  • Ensure the Assortment provides the best consumer experience by channel and geography that balances the Brand’s strengths and delivers the commercial objectives from the Seasonal range plans. Input qualitative hindsight’s to inform the OTB.
  • Briefs Central Merchandising and Design on consumer requirements and DTC trading needs to secure relevant assortments
  • Works alongside the Merchandising team to develop the VM and Space criteria to build the macro (category lay out) and micro level (planogram). 
  • Maintain Store Profiling database, ensuring ongoing validity and accuracy for all locations
  • Provide input to line development through analysis of historical performance and market knowledge
Performance management
  • Manage channel / category in-season trading performance through analysis of all relevant KPIs, suggesting corrective actions to ensure the highest levels of sales and profitability for the relevant category / channel.  
  • Manage allocation and replenishment strategy, ensuring store capacity, seasonality, min/max, on sale weeks, sales curves etc
  • Develop trading strategies to maximize the full price sell through and minimize the impact on the exit strategy
  • Lead ongoing in-season trading performance reviews and suggest opportunity or corrective action to build market share and sales performance.
  • Ensure reliability of supply to Points of Sale through proactive influencing of Operational stakeholders

Systems and Process

  • Ensure MDM accuracy and monitor all systemic information flows to ensure seamless reporting and retailing at HO and at all Points of Sale.
  • Continuously monitor ways of working and suggest opportunities for improved efficiency and process enhancement
 
Analysis & Reporting

Communication
 
  • Manage effective communication with Central Product Merchandiser, VM, RM, OPS, SMU Team
 
They are looking for someone who has a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in merchandising & buying and who can clearly present buying & financial strategies at all levels
