This role is a full‑time Finance Assistant position within a cultural organisation, reporting to the Finance Manager on a fixed‑term contract until March 2029. The organisation promotes cultural understanding and international collaboration, and the Finance Assistant supports this mission by handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month‑end processes within a small finance team. A key part of the role involves acting as the main finance liaison with a government ministry in Japan, including translating and submitting financial documents, preparing reports, coordinating communications, and supporting senior finance staff.
Core responsibilities include processing high volumes of supplier invoices, managing approval workflows, preparing payment runs, reconciling statements, resolving invoice queries, assisting with sales invoicing, and supporting month‑end journals and reconciliations. The role also includes ad‑hoc finance tasks, translation work, and administrative coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners such as auditors and commercial operators.
The position requires at least two years of finance or accounting experience, fluency in English and Japanese, strong Excel skills, and proficiency with standard office software. Knowledge of accounting qualifications or ERP systems is desirable. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive, able to work independently and collaboratively, and capable of managing deadlines.
