Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. You will be responsible for a variety of finance-related tasks across multiple entities, including purchase and sales ledger operations.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger (80%)
Enter purchase-related journal entries into SAGE using Paperless software.
Coordinate weekly payment runs for each entity, including preparing payment schedules and uploading payment data to the online banking system.
Process recurring journals such as standing orders, payroll entries, and bank charges.
Handle email enquiries from internal teams and external suppliers.
Maintain Excel-based cashbooks by updating all journals posted to SAGE.
Sales Ledger (5%)
Prepare manual sales invoices as required.
Post sales and cash receipt journals into SAGE through Paperless software.
Update Excel cashbooks with corresponding SAGE journal entries.
Finance Team Support (15%)
Update daily cashbooks for 12 entities using bank statement data.
Manage bank-related documentation, including bank mandates and standing order instructions, by liaising with the bank.
Reconcile client account balances against property management company invoices.
Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT returns for each relevant entity.
Perform monthly reconciliations of personal expenses and company credit cards.
Undertake additional ad hoc finance tasks as needed.
Requirements
Highly self-motivated, proactive, and well-organised, with the ability to independently manage workload.
Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
Excellent time management skills, capable of balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Prior experience in a purchase ledger, finance assistant, or similar role (3+ years preferred).
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial entries and record-keeping.
Proficiency in standard IT tools, including Excel and Outlook.
Experience with SAGE Line 50 (preferred).
Basic accounting knowledge such as AAT Level 2 or an equivalent qualification.
